Good biochemical vitamin balance is essential to mental health. Vitamin C, the B vitamins, and Essential Fatty Acids are all necessary for the brain to transform nutrients in our food into the neurotransmitters used by the nerves in the brain to communicate. When these neurotransmitters are imbalanced, then the brain cannot function at optimal efficiency. ADHD may be caused by this type of biochemical imbalance, especially regarding the brain's chemistry. ADHD may be due to reduced levels of serotonin, dopamine or other neurotransmitters. Or there may be reduced levels of the neurotransmitter precursors -- the nutrient building blocks used by the brain to manufacture and preserve healthy neurotransmitters. Everyone is different when it comes to ADHD and vitamins. Some people may need greater or lesser amounts of certain vitamins to be at their optimal health. It may be a good idea for anyone suffering from ADHD to experiment with taking vitamins. They may be able to easily achieve positive improvement resulting from the correction of their own vitamin deficiencies. Nature's Plan for ADD Success
